Lynden enjoys the performances of two community theatre organizations and two high school drama departments that focus on providing family entertainment. Local actors thrill theatergoers year-round with musicals, comedies, and dramas.
The Lynden Performing Arts Guild typically presents four productions each year, including musicals, comedies, and dramas. The 2006-07 season will feature performances of several well-renowned productions, including "Evita," "Whistle Down The Wind," "The Man Who Came To Dinner," and "Nunsense II: The Second Coming." Performances are presented in the Claire vg Thomas Theatre, located in the Dutch Village Mall and named after a renowned pianist and longtime supporter of the arts. Lynden High School also performs their productions in historic Judson Hall, which is named for Holden and Pheobe Judson. The historic auditorium is on Main Street, part of the Lynden Middle School campus.
In 2006, the Lynden Christian High School Drama Department performed “Nitwits” as well as their spring musical, “42nd Street”. The school’s brand new 590 seat auditorium was built in 2004. In addition to theatrical performances, the auditorium also hosts band, orchestra, and choral concerts, as well as community events.
