| The
Lynden Flying Club ( LFC ) is a Non-profit club
dedicated to those who enjoy, or wish to enjoy the pastime
of building and flying Radio Controlled Model Aircraft (
RC ). Dues as listed on the application form help to maintain
the field, purchase mowing and other equipment, as well
as pay for site improvements.
ACADEMY
OF MODEL AERONAUTICS (AMA)
The LFC is AMA sanctioned, meaning that we enjoy the many
benefits of being affiliated with the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
Members of the LFC must also join the AMA, a national body
for model flying. AMA membership provides the individual
with full insurance, a monthly magazine and extensive support
for club functions. Between $1 - $56 per year depending
on age, it is a bargain considering that it fully insures
the individual and provides other benefits. An application
is included for those who do not already belong. The monthly
magazine alone is worth the price.
New-comers:
The hobby has evolved in leaps and bounds during the past
several years, taking the mystery and some of the expense
out of participating. The range of model kits available
are great, and ready-to-fly versions are becoming popular.
Gas & Electric powered and Soaring Gliders are all popular
and will be supported by the club, along with other forms
of flight. It is no longer as difficult to understand, purchase
and fly radio controlled planes. One of the many benefits
of a club environment is access to other pilots and their
vast knowledge with offers of assistance in getting started.
The hobby is fun, challenging, skill building and addictive.
Seasoned
pilots: You are encouraged to join as this facility
provides some of the finest acreage and airspace available
for model flying, and LFC has dedicated all dues to facility
improvement and maintenance. A 400’ North/South landing
strip is in place with only overseeding and rolling left
to be done, and additional field improvements pending good
weather will be completed shortly. The field should be flyable
for May. As membership grows, additional facility improvements
are planned, as well as events. We encourage Thermal Gliders
( Hi-start or HLG ), powered 2 or 4 stroke, electric and
others. One of the fastest growing aspects is Combat, using
flying wings quickly made from foam-board and plastic downspout.
It is inexpensive, thrilling, adrenaline pumping fun. One
of our goals is to encourage some of our senior pilots to
work with developing programs for aspiring youth flyers.
Additionally, positions are always open for additional flight
trainers if you are interested. Now is the time to join
and help form this clubs agenda!
Join
now and help form this club!
The new field is under construction and we hope to be ready
for May. Please consider joining now. Membership dues are
all we have to fund this rewarding hobby for all ages. Please
pass this on to anyone you know in the hobby.
