The popular Jansen Jazz Band returns to the Chamber Hall for their winter performance on Thursday, February 22 at 7:30 PM. Under the direction of Steve Herrick, this group performs a new collection of songs in a big band jazz style for each of their concerts. Herrick is happy to announce that the community band is welcoming three new players for this session: Drew Pearson on Clarinet, David Miner on trumpet, and Chuck Perry on trombone. Returning is veteran trumpet player Ed DeVaney who will be featured in a nice arrangement of My Funny Valentine. Herrick contributes the continuing success of the band to the veteran players of the group. “These returning players are the behind the curtains, indispensable musicians that keep the group going and growing. Without them each session would be a from scratch adventure.” The program for the February performance has a great selection of tunes from pop, swing, rock and jazz standards. Bonnie VanderYacht will be featured vocalist on a Michael Buble tune Everything. The February performance will include the following musicians and vocalists: Fabrizio Antonello, Ed Devaney, Eric Hirst, Norma Jean Howlett, Steve Kelly, Louise Kolstad, Julie Kroontje, David Laws, Larry Miller, David Miner, Amanda Moore, Mitch Moquin, Helen Norman, David Payne, Drew Pearson, Chuck Perry, John Rutgers, Dan Steelquist, Oskar Toften, Quinn VandeHoff, Bonnie VanderYacht, Erik Vanerstrom, Emily VanRy, Pete Wells Tickets for the performance are $10 and are available at the Jansen Art Center or online at www.jansenartcenter.org. Proceeds from the concert fund the continuation of this important community music program.
